As a drama & creative writing facilitator I have worked in many primary and secondary schools in the Humber region. The projects were focused on developing student literacy, PSHE & performance skills

PRIMARY SCHOOLS

‘Bramble Bank Wood Stories’– Althorpe & Keadby Primary School N.Lincs- Spring 2012. Working with Yr 2 & Yr3 pupils to facilitate their fictional stories about the woodland area the school has developed.

‘Show our Stories’– Wybers Wood Primary School, Grimsby- 2010-11. Drama & creative writing with Yr4 & 5 pupils over a six month literacy project

‘Telling Tales’– Welton Primary School, E.Yorks – Spring 2010. Drama & creative writing with Yr3 & 4 pupils

‘The Write Act’– Barton St Peters CoE Primary School, N.Lincs- Spring 2010. Drama & creative writing with Yr3 pupils.

‘Show and Tell’– Stoneferry Primary School, Hull- Summer 2008. Drama & creative writing with Yr3 & 4 pupils

‘Storytelling’– Newland St John CoE Primary School, Hull- Spring 2007. Working across all year groups, pupils from the school devised a performance that created an imaginary school zoo & explored their relationship with animals

‘Cogan Tales’– Alderman Cogan Primary School, Hull- Summer 2006. Pupils undertook an oral history project interviewing former pupils from their school, then rehearsed & performed a play portraying the history of their school.

SECONDARY SCHOOLS

Wilberforce College, Hull – Spring 2012. Mentoring students on GCSE Drama & Theatre Studies course.

Endeavour High School, Hull– Spring & Summer 2008. Drama with Yr7 students developing work in English & History.

Archbishop Thurstan School, Hull-Nov ’06- Mar ’07- Drama & creative writing facilitator with students exploring issues of historical and contemporary slavery & migration. The devised work created by students was subsequently developed as a theatre play ‘Slavers’ performed by Hull Truck Youth Theatre.

Cottingham High School, E.Yorks- Mar ’06- Producer and facilitator with sixth form students  working on the BBC Citizen-H Project, producing short films made by the students for broadcast.

HIGHER EDUCATION

• 1998-2001- Part-time tutor Hull University Drama Department. Ran student courses in Playwriting, Directing, Devising Theatre.
• 1997-2000- Guest tutor Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts- Reminiscence Theatre
• 1998-2000 – Tutor on Community Theatre module for students at College of Ripon & York St. John.
• 1998 –Course tutor-Universityof Lincolnshire & Humberside – ‘Devising & Performance’
• 1998-Course Tutor-Universityof Hull Centre for Lifelong Learning- 20 week course researching Hull’s fishing community with local people recording the community’s history & stories.
• 1995- Crewe & Alsager College- Writing & Devising drama from oral history.
• 1992- Devising drama from reminiscence – week long residency for students at Kampen Drama School Holland.

COMMUNITY & PUBLIC SECTOR PROJECTS

May-July ’08. Storytelling & writing facilitator with service users of ‘Aspire’ mental health early intervention agency in Leeds.

Nov ’07 -Mar ’08. Writing workshop facilitator with service users of ‘Psypher’ a Hull based mental health early intervention agency.

Feb- July ’06 Course tutor- ‘Writing for the Stage’- 20 week course for ‘Script Yorkshire’ culminating in 3 nights of ‘script in hand’ performances of 9 new short plays.

2002– Common Purpose Hull– drama & presentation skills for young people.

1999– ‘Jokers Mild’ – Writing for Stand-up. Summer programme of comedy workshops with local people in Withernsea, E.Yorks, culminating in a performance night in a local pub.

1998– Humberside Youth Service. Drama & circus skills workshop with young people in Goole.

1997– Grimsby Borough Council- ‘Crime Write’ – Writing & drama workshop leader with young people exploring their attitudes to & experience of crime. Performed as part of Grimsby & Cleethorpes Literature Festival.

1997– Howdenshire Live Arts, E.Yorks. – 12 week programme of playwriting workshops based on folk and fairy tales culminating in a group-scripted production.
